This summer I am headed to Topeka, Kansas to help run a music program for Camp Adventure with
my banjo mentor and friend Patrick Costello. Patrick is one of the foremost instructors on old-time banjo and wrote the book The How and Tao of Old Time Banjo.
Camp Adventure is a non-profit summer camp providing adventures geared towards the capabilities of physically disabled youth and adults.
The camp is run solely by donations and staffed completely by volunteers.
To help with the cost of my trip and also to help with running costs of the camp I am putting on a folk concert at St Philips.
The concert will be on Saturday the 17th of April starting at 7.30pm at St Philip’s Church, Joppa near Edinburgh. You can get more details by clicking the flyer on the right.
It will be a musical journey from Scotland to Kansas, stopping off everywhere from Aberdeen to Arkansas and from Musselburgh to Memphis. Expect to hear songs about train wrecks, scallywags, scoundrels, love, death and redemption.
Intrigued? Then please come along.
It is free admission but donations on the night would be most welcome.

And here’s a link to Patrick’s blog over at the Daily Frail where he has said some nice things about me.
